Carol 30th June 2020

Its over 50 years since you welcomed me into your family and today we said goodbye for the last time. Each evening I came to see you to do the last little jobs of the day. Oftentimes you had done the jobs and liked nothing better than to sit in your chair and chat about the news of the day..my amazing(?) performance at golf...the cost of a haircut!! You loved to talk about the past..your family, your childhood, your love of learning, language, story writing, music, the Army, Nora, Val and Wendy and the kids. How we smiled at some of the stories! You missed Grandma so much ...every day....reminiscing about your dancing, going to local theatre performances, mess functions her cooking and realising how well she looked after you all throughout your life together. You were so proud of Val and Wendy. You spoke of all your grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to hear about them and what they were doing. In these last months everyday tasks became more challenging but your spirit and determination to overcome them will be a lasting memory for me. Rest peacefully now...you made your mark xx
